Nikovski: The Western Balkans is not at risk, unless someone becomes directly involved in attacks on Iran

Political analyst Risto Nikovski told Kosovo Online that the situation in the Middle East generally does not represent a risk for the Western Balkans, unless certain countries decide to become directly involved in Israeli-American attacks on Iran.

“I believe those who do not expose themselves are not in danger. Personally, I think this war will not spread, it will remain strictly within the region. And to be clear, that region has been on fire since World War II, actually since 1948 when Israel was established, and that will continue,” Nikovski said.

He assessed that the attacks on Iran will not pass without consequences, unlike what happened during more than two years of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

“Unfortunately, recently we have been witnessing an unprecedented escalation there. What happened in Gaza last year... two million people were terrorized, children were being killed and the whole world remained silent. Now what is happening in Iran will not remain without consequences. Children are suffering there as well, and the fanaticism that exists among Muslims will become even more pronounced, and there will be no peace for at least another 50 years. But it will remain within the region, and it seems to me it will more or less remain strictly regional,” the analyst states.

Nikovski notes that Russia and China, although they condemned the attack on their allies in Tehran, will not interfere. He adds that he does not expect the Venezuelan scenario to be repeated and that Iran will not capitulate.

“I do not think Venezuela will be repeated, which capitulated immediately. The Americans also adapted, they did not bring opposition figures to power but reached an agreement with the authorities there, meaning with Nicolas Maduro, de facto Maduro’s successors. That will not happen here. Iran will not capitulate easily. And what is most dangerous is that this will have repercussions in terrorist actions afterward. So everyone who has exposed themselves in one way or another in support may fear, in some way, that there could be consequences for what they showed as their, in principle, illegal support,” Nikovski concluded.
