Office for Kosovo and Metohija: Attack on two Serbs in Decani shows how endangered returnees are in Kosovo

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated that last night’s attack on two Serbs, Dejan S. and Radovan M., in Decani is the result of Pristina’s anti-Serb policy, which, as they said, emboldened an Albanian extremist who fired a burst of bullets at them solely because they are Serbs.

In the armed incident at a café in Decani, two Serbs were wounded, as well as Albanian lawyer D.C., while Ismet Zukaj, suspected of attempted murder, was arrested at the scene.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija noted that Radovan M. and Dejan S. have been displaced Serbs from Kosovo since 1999, and that the attack on them demonstrates how vulnerable Serbian returnees are in Kosovo as targets of the policies of Albin Kurti.

“They were shot and sustained serious injuries simply because they are Serbs who dared to visit their property in Metohija, which has been ethnically cleansed of Serbs,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija told Vecernje novosti.

They added that they would inform all international representatives about the attack on Dejan and Radovan and demand that the assault be punished in the harshest manner.

As reported by Vecernje novosti, the arrested Zukaj asked Dejan and Radovan whether they were Serbs, after which he pulled out a handgun and cold-bloodedly opened fire on them.

The crime was not preceded by an argument; instead, Zukaj “simply began shooting at Serbs,” whom he did not know, nor did they know him.

Radovan was struck by several bullets in the abdomen and underwent surgery at the hospital in Pec, while Dejan was hit in the pelvis and is being treated at a hospital in Pristina. Dejan is a displaced person from Pec, and Radovan from Decani, Vecernje novosti added.

Sitting at the same table with them was lawyer D.C., who was also attacked and is reported to be in the most critical condition.
