Office for Kosovo and Metohija: Desecration of the cemetery in Skulanevo the latest indicator of Albanian extremism
The Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated that the intrusion of unknown persons onto the grounds of the churchyard and the Serbian Orthodox cemetery in Skulanevo near Lipljan, during which the fence was broken and the grave of the recently deceased Ivica Talić was desecrated, represents the latest indicator of Albanian extremism and intolerance toward everything Serbian in Kosovo.
The statement by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija notes that the fact that the unknown perpetrators, during the desecration of the Orthodox cemetery, also took the Serbian flag clearly points to the intentions of extremists to “erase Serbian traces and symbols in these areas.”
“This is not only an anti-civilizational but also a deeply inhumane act that reflects the alarming reality of the position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, in which even deceased Serbs cannot rest in peace,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated.
They added that it is undeniable that such disgraceful attacks, in addition to a policy of impunity, are also fueled by irresponsible statements and actions of politicians from Pristina who on a daily basis portray the Serbian people as a legitimate target, with the sole aim of expelling Serbs from their centuries-old homelands.
“We demand that the perpetrators of this heinous act be sanctioned as soon as possible, and that representatives of the international community react in order to prevent such incidents,” the statement concludes.
At the cemetery in Skulanevo near Lipljan, the fence was broken, and from the grave of the recently deceased Ivica Talić from that village the Serbian flag was taken and flowers were scattered. The case was reported to the police, who carried out an on-site investigation.
