The Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced that seven Serbs were arrested this morning in Zubin Potok and Zvecan, assessing that this was an act of retaliation by Albin Kurti against the Serbs in northern Kosovo, following the victory of the Serbian people in the local elections and Pristina’s nervousness over its electoral debacle.

“In continuation of the brutal physical and legal repression against the Serbian people, Albin Kurti this morning ordered the arrest operation of Serbs in Zubin Potok and Zvecan, during which seven of our compatriots were detained. His police phalanxes stormed these two peaceful Serbian municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija around six o’clock this morning, accompanied by heavily armed special units, with the aim of intimidating and spreading fear among Serbian families and householders who have lived in these areas for decades,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated.

The statement adds that the police siege and harassment of Serbs lasted for several hours.

“During this brutal operation, Kurti’s special forces smashed doors on Serbian houses, conducting searches and ransacking properties, while arbitrarily detaining our compatriots,” the Office noted.

It further stated that the detained individuals will be provided with legal assistance, and that the Office for Kosovo and Metohija will inform international representatives about their arrest.

“This is Albin Kurti’s act of revenge against the Serbian people in northern Kosovo and Metohija for their victory in the recently concluded elections, as well as an expression of Pristina’s nervousness following its electoral defeat, which Kurti seeks to compensate for at the expense of the Serbian people,” the statement concluded.

The Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo announced this morning that it had ordered searches at nine locations in the municipalities of Zubin Potok and Zvecan as part of what it described as an investigation into organized crime and serious criminal offenses.
