Organizer of pilgrimage detained in front of Gracanica monastery

The organizer of a pilgrimage, V. P., was detained today in front of the Gracanica Monastery, Kosovo Online has learned.

He was leading a group of pilgrims from Belgrade who were wearing red, blue, and white T-shirts with the inscription United Serbia in front of the monastery.

Kosovo police approached V. P., requested identification, and ultimately detained him. While Kosovo police were detaining the organizer, members of KFOR and the Kosovo Police Inspectorate observed the incident.

The commander of the police station in Gracanica, Bratislav Trajkovic, stated that he was not authorized to comment on the reasons for V. P.’s detention and referred journalists to the Office for Media Relations.


Earlier in the day, Kosovo police also detained Stefan Veljkovic, vice president of Serbian Democracy, at Gazimestan.

The group Veljkovic was with entered the Gazimestan memorial site carrying a Serbian flag. Veljkovic, who was wearing a T-shirt with the image of Aleksandar Arsenijevic, leader of that party, was taken into custody.
