The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) was in the most difficult situation since its establishment, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia and OSCE Chairman Bujar Osmani said today in a statement for Kosovo Online.

"It is regrettable that the OSCE is in a difficult situation. This is one of the most difficult situations since the establishment of that organization. But all 57 member countries know that the OSCE is important," Osmani emphasized.

He said that the OSCE was unique in its expertise in conflict resolution and an important platform for dialogue between countries that did not have the same position on an issue.

"Through dialogue, a common language must be found and peace and stability established," Osmani underlined.

He also said that North Macedonia, during its presidency, was trying to keep the OSCE alive.

"Our priority is to keep the OSCE alive, functional, and above all its function in resolving conflicts," Osmani explained.

When asked if this was possible in today's circumstances, of a complete collapse in relations between Russia and the West, he said that he thought it was possible despite the huge problems that the OSCE was facing.

"We have huge risks - the budget for the OSCE has not been adopted since 2021. We have not determined who will chair the OSCE next year, so North Macedonia may lead this organization for two years. We also have a crisis in the political-executive leadership of the OSCE. But I am convinced that we will find a solution," Osmani emphasized.
