The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, announced that Syria has officially recognized Kosovo.

In a post on Facebook, Osmani stated that the agreement on mutual recognition between Kosovo and Syria was reached today in Riyadh, with the support of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

Osmani thanked the President of Syria, Al Sharaa, for the decision to recognize Kosovo and for the support he extended to the people of Kosovo.

“The peoples of Kosovo and Syria have both suffered and sacrificed greatly to achieve freedom. Therefore, today’s mutual recognition is not only an affirmation of state sovereignty but also a tribute to the sacrifices of many generations who fought to live freely,” Osmani said.

She expressed special gratitude to the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia for what she described as his decisive role in achieving this historic agreement between the two countries.

“Kosovo is now recognized by 120 countries,” Osmani wrote.

According to data from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija of the Government of Serbia, Kosovo has so far been recognized by 84 countries, and Syria would be the 85th to do so.
