Recall that Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani announced on April 12 that Sudan had recognized the independence of Kosovo.

The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Supreme Commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has dismissed Foreign Minister Ali Youssef al-Sharif, the Al-Sudani website states, reported by the Sudan Akhbar website.

As the text further states, the minister was informed of the decision to dismiss him on Thursday evening.

Ali Youssef Ahmed al-Sharif was appointed as Sudanese Foreign Minister in early November 2024, and will now be replaced in that position by Hussein al-Amin al-Fadhel.

"It was an honor and pleasure to meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan. This is our first meeting where he informed me of the instruction of the President of Sudan to recognize the Republic of Kosovo and to establish diplomatic relations between our two countries," Osmani emphasized at the time, among other things, while Yousef stated that he was honored to announce, as he stated, on behalf of the President of Sudan that his country now recognizes Kosovo.

The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reacted to this, stating, among other things, that the current Sudanese Government's capacity to make decisions of vital importance for international relations is questionable.

"The current political situation in Sudan, characterized by uncertainty and lack of legitimacy of the current government, calls into question the validity of such international decisions. The capacity of the current Sudanese Government to make decisions of vital importance for international relations is questionable, especially in the context of issues concerning the sovereignty and territorial integrity of United Nations member states," the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced at the time.
