Director of the KIPRED Institute, Lulzim Peci, described the statements of Kosovo’s acting Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, regarding the alleged links between Constitutional Court judge Radomir Laban and Serbia’s BIA, as tired patriotism.

“When mistakes or defeats are covered with the cloak of ‘tired patriotism’—no matter how absurd that may sound—it does more harm to the country than who knows how many BIA collaborators,” Peci wrote on Facebook.

He noted that BIA collaborators are arrested, brought before the courts, and convicted, but declaring someone a threat without a court decision is a dangerous precedent.

“Without a court decision, declaring someone a threat to national security, as President Vjosa Osmani has done, is a very dangerous precedent that could come back to haunt us,” he added.

Referring to the Constitutional Court’s decision and the discontent of Self-Determination members, Peci said that disagreement with a court ruling can also be legitimate, but if it is not implemented, at best it will constitute a violation of the law, and at worst, a criminal offense.
