The Director of the Serbian Government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, extended Vidovdan greetings to Serbs in Kosovo, describing the nationwide Serbian holiday as a symbol of spiritual continuity, historical remembrance, and unwavering faith in freedom, justice, and national unity.

"Due to Pristina's unlawful decision, I have been unable for the past three years to celebrate this holy day with our people in Kosovo and Metohija. Nevertheless, no ban or political obstacle can diminish our determination to stand by every Serbian household and every Serbian family living in Kosovo and Metohija," Petkovic said in a statement.

He stated that the Republic of Serbia, led by President Aleksandar Vucic, will continue to provide full support to its people while steadfastly advocating for the protection of their interests and their right to a dignified and prosperous life.

"For Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, Vidovdan is not merely a remembrance of a historical event, but an enduring symbol of our spiritual strength, perseverance, and fidelity to the Vidovdan covenant and the values that have shaped the Serbian people for centuries. It is precisely these values that have enabled us to preserve our identity, faith, and national belonging through the most difficult periods of our history," Petkovic emphasized.

He added that attempts to deny the Serbian people the right to freely preserve their traditions and celebrate their holidays constitute yet another in a series of provocations by the authorities in Pristina, reflecting what he described as the regime's anti-Serb nature, which, he said, is far removed from the principles of respect for fundamental democratic and civilizational values.

Nevertheless, Petkovic stressed that such attempts at intimidation cannot alter the fact that, for the Serbian people, Vidovdan remains an indelible symbol of unity and historical memory, deeply rooted in the Battle of Kosovo and Prince Lazar's sacrifice.

"I am confident that the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija will once again mark this holiday peacefully, in unity, and with dignity, remaining faithful to the values that have brought us together for centuries. May Vidovdan remind us that faith, unity, and perseverance are the foundation of our future, just as they were the pillar of strength for all previous generations," Petkovic concluded.
