Nikolic: Vidovdan is the foundation of Serbian identity and the Kosovo covenant
The Chairwoman of the Serbian Parliament's Committee on Kosovo and Metohija, Danijela Nikolic, extended Vidovdan greetings to Serbs in Kosovo, stating that the holiday represents the foundation of Serbian identity and the Kosovo covenant, emphasizing that a nation's freedom, faith, and perseverance are demonstrated through deeds and that Serbia remains steadfastly committed to its people in Kosovo.
"On this day, when everything becomes clear, when the honor, faith, and perseverance of a people are measured, I extend my sincerest greetings on the occasion of Vidovdan—a day that is not merely a date in our calendar, but the foundation of our identity, a covenant that has safeguarded the Serbian people for centuries," Nikolic said.
She stressed that Vidovdan teaches that freedom has no price, that dignity cannot be sold, and that love for one's homeland is proven through actions rather than words.
"It is a day on which we embrace both the past and the future, aware that our strength lies in faith, unity, and our unwavering determination to remain and endure on our ancestral hearths. We Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija live Vidovdan every single day. Through your lives, your perseverance, and your love for Serbia, you bear witness that the Kosovo covenant is not a legend, but a living obligation that you uphold with dignity," Nikolic stated.
She added that the day should serve as a reminder that no force can overcome a people who preserve their faith, their holy sites, and their roots.
"As long as the bells of our monasteries continue to ring and the Serbian language continues to be heard in Kosovo and Metohija, Serbia will endure. Happy Vidovdan to us all. Long live Serbia. Long live Kosovo and Metohija," Nikolic said in her message to Serbs in Kosovo.
