Geopolitical analyst Predrag Rajic states that any escalation of conflict in the Middle East increases the chances of radical groups awakening worldwide, including in the Western Balkans and Kosovo.

Commenting on the danger that recent actions by Hamas in Israel might lead to the resurgence of radical Islamism in Kosovo, which has served as a recruitment base for fighters in recent years, Rajic points out that the general risk of such occurrences has always existed.

"The risk of these radical Islamic cells, which undoubtedly employ terrorist methods, awakening has been present in recent decades. We have witnessed such actions and events in this region, throughout Europe, and worldwide, in the EU, the Russian Federation, and the US since 2001. Therefore, this risk generally exists. Any escalation of conflict in the Middle East with a higher number of casualties further radicalizes these cells, which already exist, and increases the likelihood of their awakening and resumption of their activities," Rajic explains.

He warns that extreme caution and wisdom are necessary to prevent and neutralize such situations.

"So far, our authorities have handled this exceptionally well, and let us hope they continue to do so in the future. I believe that Europe, in general, will continue to face this possibility for a long time. It's a danger involving the activation of certain cells associated with certain schools of radical Islam. These cells essentially have little connection with genuine, prevailing Islam," Rajic notes.
