Rama: Police should withdraw from municipal buildings; new elections needed
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that the Kosovo Police should immediately withdraw from municipal buildings in northern Kosovo, adding that new elections need to be held, as reported by Reporteri.
"The four mayors have completed their mission. Today, new elections are needed, and they should be called as soon as possible to show willingness. The police should be withdrawn immediately, there is no need for them to be in empty buildings. If foreign troops take control of northern Kosovo, this issue will resurface after who knows how many years. This is one of those moments where a minute feels like a year, an hour like a decade, and a day like a century," Rama said at a press conference where he announced that he had sent a proposal for the Draft Statute of the Community of Serb Municipalities to French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Rama clarified that it is a confidential document that does not claim to be the ideal solution, but it is a document of the highest international level, authored by American and European experts, which takes into account all reasons for the establishment of the Community.
