Rapajic: By appointing Bajrami as negotiator, the Kosovo Government shows the Brussels process is of little importance to it

Aleksandar Rapajic, Program Director of the NGO Center for the Advocacy of Democratic Culture from North Mitrovica, assessed that the appointment of Agron Bajrami, Kosovo’s ambassador in Brussels, as chief negotiator in the technical dialogue on the normalization of relations with Serbia demonstrates how little importance the Government of Kosovo attaches to the Brussels process.

“I think this only shows how insignificant the Brussels process is for the current Government of Kosovo and that they are lowering it to the lowest possible level. The idea is probably that the gentleman has strong connections in Brussels, since he served there as ambassador, so they assume he may have useful contacts,” Rapajic told Kosovo Online.
He added that it is not good for the process to lose focus entirely or for the individuals leading the dialogue to be changed so frequently, noting that personnel changes alone cannot bring meaningful progress when there is no genuine political will to achieve results.
Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti appointed Agron Bajrami as chief negotiator in the technical dialogue on normalization of relations with Serbia on 22 April.
