Sadiku: The elections in the north must be postponed
Political analyst Arbnor Sadiku told Ekonomia Online that the elections in the north must definitely be postponed due to the situation that had arisen in this part of Kosovo.
Sadiku said that calls from friendly countries should be heard so that the elections could be held at a more convenient time.
"We need to think about the organization of elections in the north of Kosovo, to know whether we have voters and party lists of Serbs in the north of Kosovo, whether they will go to the elections. If the representatives of the Serbs do not participate, those elections are legal but not legitimate because they do not have the trust of the citizens and we cannot organize elections when we know the result - we do not have the voters," Sadiku said.
In his opinion, canceling these elections would be the best for Kosovo, as well as reaching a kind of consensus with international factors to create better conditions for holding the elections.
He stated there was no security and the rule of law in the north, even for Albanian citizens.
"The recent government actions lead to the escalation of the situation there. You saw that the Kosovo police did not react, but the EULEX international police officers were patrolling. There is no safety there, even for Albanian citizens. We saw a video where an Albanian was being chased by Serbian gangs in the north of Kosovo, and this shows that there is no rule of law there, but that there are gangs that maintain a certain status, as long as they are led and convinced by the Vucic government and the Serb List. We have to talk with international friends to achieve better conditions for elections to be held there," Sadiku pointed out.
