Serb List: Arrests of Serbs at Gazimestan are an attempt at intimidation and evidence of Pristina's repression
The Serb List stated that today's arrests of Serbs at Gazimestan during the Vidovdan commemoration constitute an attempt at intimidation and evidence of what it described as the repressive policies of the authorities in Pristina, adding that international representatives have been informed of the incident.
In a statement, the party said that, according to information provided by its representatives who were present at Gazimestan, the Kosovo Police detained several Serbs without providing any written documentation explaining the reasons for their detention.
"We have informed international representatives about this act, which we view as an attempt at intimidation and evidence of the repression carried out by the regime in Pristina. We have requested their urgent involvement and called on them to seek the immediate release of all those who have been detained," the Serb List said.
The statement also noted that legal assistance would be provided to all those who had been detained.
Earlier today, Kosovo Police detained dozens of individuals at Gazimestan following the memorial service held to mark Vidovdan.
After worshippers left the memorial complex, Kosovo Police officers singled out certain individuals and placed them in a temporary holding facility before transferring them in police vans and patrol vehicles to a police station.
