Serbian MFA: We expect and strive for the Serbian People in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as in other parts of the region, to enjoy the same freedoms and rights
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia extended congratulations on the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag, recalling that even today they are fighting for the Serbian people in Kosovo and in other parts of the region to enjoy the same freedoms and rights, as well as to live by the values guaranteed to all other European nations.
“The heroic Serbian army, led by brave and seasoned officers, after four years of suffering and hardship, launched on September 15, 1918, a powerful and unstoppable breakthrough on the Salonika Front, marking the beginning of Serbia’s liberation from enemy occupation and a new era in the development of our state. On this occasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia congratulates the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag,” the statement on social network X reads.
The MFA added that, to their great regret, the Serbian people are still compelled to fight for the right to a free life, freedom of movement and religion, as well as for the principles of equality and respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty.
“We expect and we strive for the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as in other parts of the region, to have the same freedoms and rights, and to be able to enjoy the values guaranteed to all other European nations. Our principled commitment and consistent struggle for the preservation of equality among all states, respect for international law and principles, simultaneously represent a pillar for defending the stability of the entire region and other countries within and beyond Europe. Our internal stability, economic and military strength aimed at deterring potential external aggression, together with unity, harmony, solidarity, and mutual support of the people, the Church, and the state – are a guarantee for the preservation of the freedom and identity of the Serbian nation. Happy holiday to us all!” the statement concluded.
