Simic on prosecutor's summons: Political pressure on the Serbian people

Serb List Presidency member Igor Simic said today that the prosecutor's summons served on him and four other members of the party represents political pressure on the Serbian people, adding that he will respond to the summons because, as he says, he has nothing to hide.

"First of all, this is not the persecution of Igor Simic, Ivan Zaporozac, Ivan Todosijevic, Zoran Todic and Vasilije Tomasevic. This is the persecution of the Serbian people and of us as their legal and legitimate representatives, and that is how we see it. I will respond to the summons, of course, not because I have high expectations of the judicial system in Kosovo and Metohija, but because I know we have nothing to hide. We acted in accordance with the law, in the interest of the citizens, providing services to everyone so that people could lead a normal life worthy of a human being in the 21st century," Simic told Kosovo Online.

The Serb List Presidency member believes these proceedings are politically motivated and aimed at making it more difficult for representatives of the Serbian people to do their work.

"This proves that someone in Pristina does not want those who fight for the Serbian people to be free to do their job the way they have been doing it. As people who come from this community, we share the fate of everyone else who is often targeted by Kosovo institutions through various fabricated cases, summonses, and everything else that has been happening in Kosovo and Metohija these days," he said.

Simic believes that the actions of caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti are an attempt to score political points through pressure on Serbs in the absence of solutions to citizens' problems.

"The fact is that Kurti has nothing to offer the people of Kosovo and Metohija. The only thing he can do at this moment is to build the image of a great Albanian through actions like these, or through everything he has been doing over the past several years, trying to put Serbs in circumstances where it is simply impossible to survive. The Serbian people have proven that they are ready to fight peacefully for their right to remain and live on their own land because, most importantly, we are on our own land, and we will not leave because we see absolutely no reason to abandon our homes, regardless of the pressure we are being subjected to," Simic concluded.

Earlier today, the Serb List announced that party representatives Igor Simic, Ivan Zaporozac, Ivan Todosijevic, Zoran Todic and Vasilije Tomasevic had been served with a prosecutor's summons in connection with proceedings initiated against them in 2024, describing it as a continuation of institutional pressure and part of a plan aimed at persecuting Serbs.
