Simic: Without 10 mandates for the Serb List, ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Kosovo will be finalized

The Vice President of the Serb List, Igor Simic, stated today that it is crucial for the Serb List to win all 10 mandates allocated for the Serbian community in the Kosovo Parliament. Otherwise, the strength of Serbs in that parliament will be diminished, the "umbilical cord" between Belgrade and Serbs in Kosovo will be severed, which, he warned, would lead to the final ethnic cleansing of Serbs from the area.

Simic told TV Prva that the Serb List's electoral list includes 48 candidates, many of whom are new faces—party members, former MPs, esteemed professors, doctors, judges, individuals who have not previously been involved in politics but are respected by the Serbian community and can contribute to the fight for a better future for Serbs in Kosovo.

He emphasized that the Serb List is entering the elections with its strongest lineup yet, consisting of individuals who will fight for citizens and will not retreat even an inch from defending Serbian national interests in Kosovo.

Simic highlighted the honor of having Dragica Gasic, the only Serbian returnee to Djakovica, accept the invitation to join the list.

"She is a heroine of the Serbian people in the 21st century. Imagine a Serbian family fighting to reclaim their apartment and then struggling to survive under impossible conditions of persecution, from the local to the central level of the Kosovo system, even from NGOs, which is paradoxical. She is an example of how we must fight for the interests of the Serbian people and never give up on that struggle," Simic said.

He explained that some individuals seek to diminish the importance of the Serb List by spreading slander that "10 mandates mean 10 positions and salaries," which, he said, is untrue because it is of vital importance for the Serb List to win all 10 mandates allocated for the Serbian community.

"If we were to lose these 10 mandates, we would weaken the strength of the Serbian people in parliament and enable the future authorities in Pristina to select compliant Serbs, as was the case several years ago," Simic pointed out.

He added that there are currently Serbs in Pristina who act against the interests of the Serbian people, frequently voting in favor of seizing Serbian land in Leposavic and Zubin Potok or remaining silent during incidents where Serbian children are harmed by Albanian special forces occupying the north.

"If the Serb List does not have 10 mandates, they will legally enable Kosovo to unite with Albania, seize Serbian medieval monasteries, change protected zones, and, for example, build a hotel near Gracanica or similar structures. They would abolish the Serbian language and other rights that are at least written in Kosovo documents, even if they are not respected, leaving us no way to fight for them. If the Serb List does not retain all 10 mandates, the umbilical cord between Belgrade and Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija will be severed, leading to the final ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Kosovo, which all Albanian political representatives, especially Albin Kurti, want," Simic said.

He also mentioned that the outcome of the investigation into the explosion at the Ibar-Lepenc canal is still pending, an issue the Serb List insists on in all discussions with international representatives. He criticized Pristina for immediately accusing Serbia and Aleksandar Vucic of the attack without evidence.

"We will not back down; we demand an independent international investigation because we are aware that Serbia, Serbs in Kosovo, and Aleksandar Vucic have nothing to do with it. However, we have the right to suspect that it was done by someone aiming to harm Serbian interests and gain political points," Simic said.

He noted that northern Kosovo is "under a form of occupation," with armed special forces near kindergartens, health centers, cultural institutions, and churches. These forces do not speak Serbian, are hostile towards Serbs, and carry weapons.

"We are still waiting for outcomes regarding incidents over the past few years involving these para-police units. We are waiting for the results of the attempted murder of Stefan and Milos Stojanovic. This hunting season on Serbs continues, with arrests and detentions without evidence," Simic reminded and added that goods from central Serbia are barely felt in Serbian communities as they only enter through Merdare.

"This motivates the Serb List and the Serbian people to use the February 9 elections to regain control and change the situation in the north, which currently resembles an occupation," Simic concluded.
