Sljuka: Neither Pristina nor the EU is thinking about dialogue with Belgrade
Aleksandar Sljuka, an associate of the NGO New Social Initiative, is not convinced that there is any willingness in Pristina to resume dialogue with Belgrade. He pointed out that the EU has also failed to exert decisive pressure that would compel Kosovo to make concessions or abandon actions detrimental to the Serbian community.
“We have seen in recent times that these issues have not been the focus of the dialogue, as EU mediator Peter Sorensen insisted on humanitarian matters, particularly the issue of missing persons. If we are talking about a broader dialogue involving both sides and discussions on substantive issues such as the Community of Serb Municipalities and its implementation, I do not see that happening in the near future,” Sljuka told Kosovo Online.
Sljuka added that the institutional crisis had not prevented Pristina from taking certain steps, such as closing almost all institutions supported by Belgrade, with the exception of those in the fields of education and healthcare.
“Expectations for the coming period should not be too high,” Sljuka predicted.
