Sorensen: We must find a way for both sides to sit down and talk

EU Special Representative for the Belgrade–Pristina Dialogue Peter Sorensen congratulated Kosovo on the elections held and said he was looking forward to the formation of the Assembly and the Government. He announced that work on issues from the dialogue would continue.

“We have high hopes that 2026 will give us what 2025 did not, which is why I am starting the year with a working visit here and to Belgrade later this week,” he said after a meeting with President Vjosa Osmani.

He noted that the international community had asked the mediators in the dialogue to ensure that both sides sit down and talk.

“We must find a way for that to happen. The High Representative, Kaja Kallas, visited Belgrade and Pristina last year. There are commitments that a meeting will take place when the time comes. She will convene the meeting. People will come and we will see,” Sorensen said.
