Stanislav Sretenovic: Kurti's statements do not contribute to calming the situation in Kosovo
Scientific adviser at the Institute for Contemporary History, Stanislav Sretenovic, said that the statements of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti "about the unfinished project of the League of Prizren", which he had spoken about at the session of the General Council of the Self-Determination Movement, calling for the national unity of the Albanians, did not contribute to calming the situation in Kosovo.
"If we were to analyze the fact that the "League of Prizren" existed, it would certainly be up to historians, both Serbian and Albanian, to explain, and not politicians who use such a historical fact in completely different historical circumstances and contexts," Sretenovic said for Kosovo Online.
Tonight in Tirana, Sretenovic presented the project he manages, "Multi-ethnic state and national identity - Serbian experience in the 20th century", which was financed by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia.
According to him, any cooperation based on the principles of critical historiography can contribute to the scientific development of the two communities, Serbian and Albanian, as well as to the cooperation of the two people.
"In any case, I think that the academic community is invited to certainly cooperate regardless of the ups and downs in political relations," Sretenovi said.
The idea to present the project in Tirana, on which he is currently working with a team of experts, came from his Albanian colleague, Artan Puto, with whom he was on doctoral studies in Florence.
"We are here for the first time in Tirana with the idea of developing cooperation and establishing connections between our institute and our associates, that is, another institute from Serbia and a university with Albanian colleagues from institutes and universities in Tirana," Sretenovic concluded.
