The US State Department has stated that it is disappointed "that the Kosovo Police took action in financial institutions in northern Kosovo under the orders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs."

"Issues related to these offices were the subject of long discussions within the EU-led dialogue. This action was not coordinated with international partners, and it escalates tensions. It undermines the perception of Kosovo's good faith in resolving outstanding issues with Serbia through the EU-led dialogue," the State Department spokesperson said in a response to Voice of America.

The response further states that "The US government has consistently called for coordination between our governments to support Kosovo's progress on its Euro-Atlantic path, most recently by Under Secretary Elizabeth Allen during her meeting with Prime Minister Kurti on May 19."

They also reiterate the US's "clear concern" over the implementation of the amended regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo, which restricts the import and use of the Serbian dinar in Kosovo.

"We call on the government of Kosovo to return to constructive engagement in the EU-facilitated dialogue as the appropriate channel for resolving issues related to the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia and to address the fundamental needs of all its citizens – including those of the Serbian minority – negatively affected by recent changes in currency regulations," the State Department spokesperson told Voice of America.
