Tahiri: Kurti and Rama having no meetings with US officials is an alarm for Kosovo and Albania

Former Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri has assessed that the fact that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama held no meetings with representatives of the US administration during their stay in New York represents an “alarm” for Kosovo and Albania.

In a Facebook post, Tahiri said that the reasons for this were well known, assessing that Kosovo had been in a political crisis for the past two years, while Albania, as she put it, was “caught in a spiral of unrelenting corruption.”

Referring to Rama and his address to the United Nations General Assembly, Tahiri noted that he had the opportunity to speak because Albania was a UN Member State, but claimed that his speech had been boycotted by all Member States.

“Having nothing to tell the world about Albania, Rama spoke about the importance of artificial intelligence, while the global debate is openly expressing concern that artificial intelligence is leading the world toward an apocalypse,” Tahiri said.

She also pointed out that Rama had not mentioned Kosovo in his speech or, as she put it, the injustice against the KLA leaders.

“At least we would have had the sense that Kosovo had a voice at the UN. The more fragile the state of a country, the more fragile its diplomacy—and that was evident in both cases. Unfortunately, both Kosovo and Albania are in such a state,” Tahiri concluded.
