Fidan Ukaj, an analyst from Pristina, stated that the authorities in Pristina carry out all actions in the north in coordination with the international community and that the recent closure of the provisional authorities in four municipalities is in accordance with the 2013 agreement, which was reached with EU mediation.

"The statement by Minister Elbert Krasniqi that international actors were informed about the actions of Kosovo's institutions is good news because everything is being done in coordination with them. Therefore, I believe the closure of Serbia's parallel institutions in Kosovo is legal and in line with current laws. We had an agreement in 2013 that these parallel institutions would be closed and that the people working in them would be integrated into Kosovo's institutions," Ukaj told Kosovo Online.

He added that it was a mistake for the Serbs to leave the police and municipal administrations in the north at Belgrade's call.

"These Serbs are citizens of this country, and they should serve in Kosovo’s institutions and provide services to their compatriots living in Kosovo, helping them access the services they need to live better," Ukaj emphasized.

He believes this situation could now be resolved by announcing job openings to fill certain positions.

Commenting on the international community's demands for coordinated actions by Kosovo's institutions, Ukaj explained that the 2013 Brussels Agreement was reached with their help.

"The international community demands coordination of actions with Kosovo's institutions. They helped in achieving the 2013 agreement between the Serbian and Kosovo sides, and with their assistance, it was agreed that the parallel and illegal structures operating in Kosovo would be closed. A good part of these structures has been shut down, although some still operate illegally, and I believe they should be closed as well," Ukaj said, but he did not want to specify which institutions he was referring to.

He added that Serbia, as a signatory of the agreement, should assist in this process.

"There is no destructive policies in Europe today, which is occasionally produced by President Vucic when he asks the international community for a response regarding the closure of these structures, which were shut down under the 2013 agreement," Ukaj concluded.
