Ukshini: Abdixhiku believes he can regain some voters through Vjosa Osmani
Former Kosovo ambassador to Albania Syle Ukshini sees cooperation between Vjosa Osmani and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) as a realistic possibility in the event of snap elections. He told Kosovo Online that Lumir Abdixhiku believes he can regain part of the electorate through Osmani, but also strengthen his position within the party.
“That is very realistic, because Vjosa Osmani was elected with the votes of the LDK. Essentially, she represents what in that party they call the spirit of Ibrahim Rugova. It is completely natural for Vjosa Osmani to return to the LDK or to form a new political party that would cooperate with them,” Ukshini said.
The former ambassador points out that in Pristina it is a “public secret” that Vjosa Osmani and Lumir Abdixhiku have close relations. He also added that Abdixhiku strongly supported Osmani’s decree dissolving the Assembly.
“Lumir Abdixhiku believes that through Vjosa Osmani he can regain some voters and strengthen his position within the LDK. He also has a fairly weak position within the party itself. I believe that in the upcoming elections the main winners could be Vjosa Osmani and the LDK,” the former ambassador said.
Asked whether such a coalition could oppose Albin Kurti and the Self-Determination Movement, he replied that the possibility cannot be ruled out.
“I do not rule out that possibility. However, I think that Ms. Osmani prefers the position of president. If such a scenario were to occur, I believe the biggest loser would be the Democratic Party of Kosovo,” Ukshini concluded.
