Former diplomat Syle Ukshini said that it makes no sense to hold elections, win them, and then call new elections again, stating that in such a situation, there are no winners.

Commenting on the possibility that parliamentary elections in Kosovo could be held again in December if a president is not elected, Ukshini told Kosovo Online that democracy functions by holding elections and then forming institutions.

"It makes no sense to hold elections, win them, and then go back to the polls. In the broader sense, no one would be a winner. People are tired of elections," Ukshini said.

He added that a weak opposition has allowed Kosovo's caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti to behave as he does.

"There is no opposition leader. The opposition is weak, without ideas or political action. If Kurti were in opposition today, he would use the protests in Albania to bring down the government in Kosovo. The demands of the protesters in Tirana are the same as the demands of the citizens of Kosovo. The opposition in Kosovo lacks creativity and ideas. Everyone is waiting for Kurti to offer them the presidency. That is how Kurti realized that the opposition wants a position in the country's government, rather than fulfilling its role as an opposition," our interlocutor said.

According to the former diplomat, the person who has done the most to undermine the spirit of the opposition is the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku.

"An inert, cowardly, incompetent, and uncreative politician," Ukshini concluded.
