Vucevic: I don't understand how the international community can't restrain Kurti

Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic said on RTS that Albin Kurti has a plan to open the bridge and connect North and South Mitrovica, emphasizing that he cannot understand why the international community does not have the tools to restrain the Kosovo Prime Minister.

"Unfortunately, Albin Kurti's antics and irresponsible actions continue. Yes, his plan is to open the bridge over the Ibar and forcibly connect North and South Mitrovica, including road traffic," Vucevic said.

He added that despite the difficult situation, he was satisfied with the reactions of the international community, particularly the KFOR commander.

"Yesterday, the Chief of the General Staff of Serbia had talks with the KFOR commander and clearly conveyed our positions to him. Petar Petkovic, as the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, informed representatives of the Quint countries about the significant attempt to destabilize the northern part of Kosovo and Metohija due to the activities of Kurti's regime. I hope that everyone will be rational and composed enough not to allow these things to happen. If they do happen, then I really cannot understand why they don’t have the tools and instruments to restrain Albin Kurti. I cannot accept that. They all tell him that he must not do it, yet he still goes ahead and does it," Vucevic said.

The Prime Minister added that the Serbian people are under tremendous pressure every day.

"Pristina is seizing property, business premises, and apartments in North Mitrovica, and people are being arrested daily. Just the other day, a 70-year-old man was arrested for possessing a hunting rifle. Every day someone is being arrested. Last week, five Serbs were arrested in Pasjane. All of this, of course, is wrapped in the guise of the rule of law and the enforcement of order and law. For them, of course, the so-called Kosovo is an independent state, so they must operate at full capacity, and that capacity is always at the expense of the Serbs. I fear that Kurti’s next move will be to target our education system, as he has already attacked healthcare. In doing so, he will effectively dismantle all the institutions that Serbs have and that were agreed upon through the dialogue process as guarantees for the survival of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija," Vucevic concluded.
