Vucic with Al-Halbousi: Gratitude to Iraq for consistency regarding non-recognition of Kosovo

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met with the Iraqi Parliament Speaker, Mohammed Al-Halbousi, and expressed his gratitude for Iraq's consistent and principled position in not recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.

As stated in the press release from the Serbian Presidency, Vucic thanked Iraq, a friendly country, for its principled respect for Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, to which Al-Halbousi reiterated Iraq's unwavering commitment.

They also discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation and explored potential partnerships in various sectors, such as agriculture and defense industry. The Iraqi guest extended an invitation to Serbian companies to participate in the construction of Iraqi infrastructure, for which Iraq is allocating significant funds.

The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Al-Halbousi, conveyed greetings from President Rashid to President Vucic. In response, President Vucic invited President Rashid to visit Serbia.

In his Instagram post, Vucic highlighted that they had discussed further improving bilateral cooperation between Serbia and Iraq, the current situation in the Western Balkans and the Middle East, as well as the importance of dialogue in resolving all outstanding issues.

"I am pleased to have had the opportunity to welcome Mohammed Al-Halbousi, with whom I discussed further enhancement of the bilateral cooperation between Serbia and Iraq, the current situation in the Western Balkans and the Middle East, as well as the necessity of dialogue in the context of resolving all open issues. I expressed my gratitude to the friendly Republic of Iraq for its consistent and principled position on not recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo and expressed our commitment to continue developing comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation in the coming period, both bilaterally and multilaterally," Vucic wrote.
