Vucic on arrests in Zubin Potok: The most insidious method of ethnic cleansing of Serbs

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said, commenting on this morning’s arrest of nine people in Zubin Potok, that it represented the most insidious method of ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Kosovo.

“Kurti and his special police officers were arresting Serbs again this morning—nine of them on fabricated war-crimes charges,” Vucic told RTS.

He said he was convinced that the world would once again remain silent about it.

“And pretend not to understand that this is the most insidious method of ethnic cleansing of Serbs,” Vucic stressed.

The President said that the state had engaged lawyers and was in contact with the families.

Kosovo Police arrested nine people in Zubin Potok early this morning on suspicion of committing a “war crime against the civilian population.” The Office for Kosovo and Metohija also reacted to the arrests, stating that mass arrests had become Pristina’s new method of retaliation against Serbs and that it was using recent discoveries in Zubin Potok as a pretext to stigmatize and target all remaining Serbs.

The Serbian List said that the arrest of nine Serbs in villages in the Ibarski Kolasin area represented a continuation of systematic pressure on the Serbian people in northern Kosovo. It called for all rights of those arrested to be guaranteed and for international missions to monitor the conduct of the police and judicial institutions.

On the Brussels Agreement

Referring to the Brussels Agreement, Vucic recalled that the document had been signed by Ivica Dacic, while noting that he himself would also have signed it.

“And I say that just as I say that I refused to sign a document that referred to an independent Kosovo. At the time, you had an enormously powerful Angela Merkel, a West that dominated and prevailed in everything, with no competition in the world... And you had to survive and rebuild Serbia. You cannot do that without investment,” Vucic explained.

Important Strategic Dialogue with the US

Vucic also highlighted the importance of the Strategic Dialogue with the United States.

“The Strategic Dialogue with the United States is extremely important. Without it, we will not be able to pursue our national interests in the future,” Vucic said.
