Vucic: In Brussels, we will not reach an agreement on abolishing the dinar, instead we are seeking a solution
President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced today that regarding Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, the situation remains "on the edge," and Serbia will not reach an agreement on abolishing the dinar. Instead, he stated that in Brussels, Serbia is seeking a solution for continuing to pay salaries and pensions to Serbs in Kosovo.
"Kosovo will have between 29 and 33 votes, and 31 are needed for membership. Everything is still on the edge," Vucic said during a visit to the construction sites of the Expo and the National Stadium of Serbia.
He noted that Pristina is now, with the help of its allies, employing tricks to persuade the French, Italians, and Monaco since their votes are needed.
He believes that regarding the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM), Kosovo will not take any steps. "They will say that they will submit something to someone for assessment. They will not do anything; they will wait for the others to accept it as sufficient to vote 'pro'. Due to the fierce brutal campaign by the Germans, who are acting in the most brutal way, it is difficult for us to oppose, but we will continue to fight," Vucic stated.
He added that he is proud because, until a few years ago, Serbia was not allowed to express a differing opinion, but today it can and does oppose.
"We understand the fundamental nature of things, but that does not mean we should show despondency. It is our duty to do everything we can and fight," the President of Serbia emphasized.
Vucic, responding to a question about whether the next meeting in Brussels is the last chance to find a solution about the dinar, said that Serbia will not agree to abolish the dinar but is seeking a solution for paying people's salaries and pensions.
He criticized the callousness of those who, he says, at least pretend not to understand what this is about.
"Pristina makes an unlawful decision to abolish the dinar, everyone is aware, they call for talks, accept all the postulates that Pristina has already implemented, and then if you do not accept, they say the two sides were not ready for compromise. They pretend to be naive and not to see or understand what this is about. We will not reach an agreement on abolishing the dinar, we are seeking a solution," Vucic said.
He stressed that there will be no agreement because it is an unlawful decision.
"We don't even think about it, and if they want to enable people to receive salaries and pensions, no problem, but they won't accept even the most logical things," he said.
He points out that Pristina does not want the Postanska Stedionica Bank because it is a state bank.
"We say we will find a private Serbian bank, but they say no, they will not even allow a private one, they won’t give us a license," he explained.
Stating that this issue is difficult and there are many problems, Vucic says everyone knows who is to blame, they just pretend to be clueless.
The President adds that if the dinar is not facilitated in Kosovo, the agreement is to compensate people for transportation to administrative crossings.
"We have already agreed on this, at Brnjak, Jarinje, but also at Merdare, Konculj, we will set up ATMs and our banks, and we will pay for people's transportation. But, life becomes unbearable, and not only Pristina is to blame, but also those who signed the Brussels Agreement with us," he emphasized.
He notes that Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti, after banning Serbian goods 10 months ago, abolishing the dinar, and harassing and persecuting Serbs and Bosniaks, will have sanctions lifted, even though no one understood what the sanctions were, and the Germans and Scandinavians, who advocate most loudly against the resolution targeting Serbs, are working on this.
