Vucic on Kosovo and the Council of Europe: It won't be easy for them, now they're trying another trick
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic emphasized the great importance for Serbia and the Serbian people of the fact that the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church was not allowed to enter Kosovo, the center of Serbian spirituality. However, he noted that this matter is of no importance to Pristina and the West.
He pointed out that there has been no reaction from the Quint countries or the EU on this issue, except for messages saying "we are concerned" or "we are increasingly angry."
"For our church and people, the ban on the entry of the Patriarch is extremely important, but for Pristina, it is not important at all. Someone detained Rada Trajkovic for two hours, and every Quint and EU member intervened and demanded her release, even though she wasn't arrested or anything," Vucic stated.
He also mentioned that when an Albanian was detained at the border on suspicion of committing war crimes, all the world's media reported that Serbia had blocked the passage for Kosovo citizens.
"No one wrote about the ban on the arrival of the Serbian Patriarch," the Serbian President pointed out.
On the Council of Europe
Vucic stated that it is not certain that Kosovo will not be on the agenda for Council of Europe membership, but that "it will not be easy for them."
"Anything can happen, but it will not be easy for them because even the Germans would be trampling on all their principles. However, they are now working on another trick involving Gerald Knaus and his lobbying machinery, the British, etc., which is to revert to the Ahtisaari plan, disregarding the Brussels Agreement, and telling us we can establish the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM) according to Kosovo's laws and constitution, but since there are no Serbian municipalities in the north...they are making a circus out of it," Vucic said.
However, he emphasized that Serbia's hands are tied regarding Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe because, as he says, "everyone votes on command there."
"We have a few friends, and that's all we have; we won't have more. We fight and do everything we can, but our possibilities are quite limited," Vucic emphasized.
When asked if there is a chance for any country to change its position on Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, Vucic highlighted that Slovakia and Hungary, "as long as Fico and Orbán are in power," will never change their stance. He added that neither will Spain.
"I am afraid of Spain's position on Srebrenica. Cyprus will not change its stance, and I hope Greece will not either," Vucic stressed.
Serbia Has Not Imposed Sanctions on Russia
When asked if Serbia could be a mediator in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, the President said that such tasks are left to big countries.
"Whatever our Ukrainian and Russian friends ask for, we will help, but as far as mediation goes, let Xi Jinping handle that," Vucic said.
He reminded that Serbia has not imposed sanctions on Russia.
On the Srebrenica Resolution
President Aleksandar Vucic stated that he has never hidden any important issue from his people, whether it concerns the Srebrenica resolution or Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.
He mentioned that an American official asked him why he was raising the issue of the resolution to such a high level.
"I haven't hidden the significance of the Resolution from my people, nor have I hidden anything about Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe. Now Germany and France are talking about the CSM, while Gërvalla and Albin Kurti are playing tricks," Vucic said, appearing on RTS.
According to Vucic, the great powers will formally win, but every citizen of Serbia, regardless of nationality, will feel proud.
He also mentioned that he received confirmation from some countries that they would not vote for the resolution.
"I know the pressure these countries are under, and I have received apologies from friendly Islamic countries. Our opponents are Washington, London, and Berlin," he emphasized.
Vucic expressed confidence in the friendship with Indonesia, adding that Hungary would vote against, and he was sure that neither Slovakia nor Cyprus would vote in favor. He also believes that Serbia's friends from the UAE and Bahrain would not vote in favor either.
He concluded by saying that after the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, he is more convinced than ever that China will not vote against Serbia.
"For the great Western powers, only Serbs are criminals," Vucic said.
President Aleksandar Vucic emphasized that those pushing the Srebrenica resolution do not seek regret or the highest possible respect but instead aim to punish an entire nation. "Why do you lie that this is not what you want?" he asserted.
Vucic stated that Serbia will prevail because the great powers have divided not only the region but the entire world on this issue.
"People in the region think they can make decisions however they want, while only Serbia is denied the right to decide. Do you think I will happily wait and say welcome, thank you for hitting us on the head?" Vucic remarked.
He highlighted his conversation with Milojko Spajic, dismissing the statements about "why we are returning to the past" as mere clichés. The resolution on Srebrenica, he said, is a crucial issue for the whole world as it will impact future generations.
If this decision were made in good faith, Serbia would be invited to negotiate on the topic, he noted.
"The coming period will be difficult for us, but we will work and fight, and then we will begin to strengthen our position in the world. It is crucial for us to maintain connections everywhere in the world," Vucic emphasized.
He stressed that Serbia strives to nurture the best possible relations with the Bosniaks. "I want the best relationship with the Bosniaks, and we are investing the most in the municipalities where they live," he stated.
Vucic observed that people believe in this, especially when they see the roads, clinical centers, and infrastructure being built in Novi Pazar.
"We will always show respect for the victims of the Bosniak people, but we will not allow anyone to trample on us to show that we want to be nice to someone," he said.
In a week's time, Vucic mentioned, a significant number of countries will oppose the majority's terror and speak freely. He predicted a major shift in the world order.
On Montenegro and Regional Relations
Discussing countries in the region, Vucic expressed regret over Montenegro's decision to vote for the Srebrenica resolution.
"It is unimaginable to me that China votes against, and Montenegro votes for," Vucic stated.
He reiterated that London, Washington, and Berlin are behind everything but emphasized that Serbia still tries to talk to everyone. He noted that Serbia maintains good relations with Germany and Chancellor Olaf Scholz, despite the less favorable relations with the German Foreign Ministry.
Fico: A True Friend of Serbia
Commenting on the assassination attempt on Robert Fico, Vucic said it is unimaginable that such a thing could happen in modern times and reflects the media division and division within Slovak society.
"He is such a friend of Serbia that great powers can never pressure him. He always stands by Slovakia and Serbia," Vucic said.
He described Fico as a great leader with "unbreakable will," despite some media, even domestic ones, justifying the assassination attempt.
"I spoke with Viktor Orbán, and we agreed to visit Bratislava together. I rely on his mental strength," Vucic emphasized.
