Vucic on Osmani’s statement: Nobody listens to that anymore
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today, regarding a statement by Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, in which she called on Europe to prevent Serbia’s destabilizing tactics, that nobody listens to that anymore. He also warned that Pristina will continue persecuting the Serbian population and carrying out provocations to exploit the current global situation and sway the majority of NATO and EU countries to its side against Serbia. As he said, they will not get that chance.
“Nobody listens to that anymore. With their lies about drones, people are laughing at them. You can lie once, twice, but the third time you can’t fool anyone. Absolutely nobody listens to that anymore. There is no deep philosophy here,” Vucic said in response to a journalist’s question during the opening of a section of the high-speed railway from Novi Sad to Subotica.
The Serbian president pointed out that Pristina will continue attempts at persecution and actual persecution of the Serbian people and provocations, because they cannot pursue a different policy, waiting to take advantage of what he called a pre-war situation.
“I speak openly about this because war is coming. They want to use the opportunity to have the majority of NATO countries and Europeans against Serbia. We will not give them that chance,” Vucic said.
He also noted that there is total collapse and chaos worldwide, and that things will increasingly become more difficult everywhere, including in Serbia, on certain issues.
“People need to know that everyone is preparing for war. And if they are preparing, then war will come. I see how everyone is preparing for war, they aren’t preparing for anything else. Nobody is preparing for dialogue, they just want to see who is on whose side, while digging their trenches and waiting for the war to start. They know war is coming, they are just waiting for it, and don’t let anyone lie that they are not waiting. They are waiting and preparing,” Vucic stated, adding that it has never been simpler in terms of messages: “We are here, the Russians are behind the curtain. Whoever is here is with us, whoever is not, is against us.”
When asked whether Serbia can avoid participating in this war, Vucic said he will do everything in his power to ensure that it does not.
“I will do everything in my power, as long as my mandate lasts, to make sure it is that way,” Vucic said.
However, he stressed that Serbia will need to take certain measures in response to possible escalations of conflicts worldwide.
“We will also have to start preparing some things. Our army is ready,” Vucic noted, adding that Serbia’s strategic reserves have already been increased, and that he will soon request that they be expanded further.
Regarding yesterday’s meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Copenhagen, Vucic said their discussion was fruitful and important for Serbia.
“We discussed Serbia’s European integration, but also investors in Serbia. Overall, I believe the conversation was good, fruitful for Serbia, and important for Serbia. Germany is Serbia’s largest trading partner and largest employer. That is very important for us,” Vucic added.
