Vucic: Pristina doesn't want to fulfill anything, but it has broad support - all pressure on Belgrade
President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated tonight that Pristina did not want to fulfill anything agreed upon in the dialogue but had broad support, and all pressure was on Belgrade.
When asked when and if he was going to Brussels, considering Albin Kurti's statement that he was not aware of any planned meeting, Vucic recalled that the last time in Brussels, representatives of Pristina had not wanted to meet with the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic.
"They don't want to fulfill anything, but they have broad support. The pressure is on our side, it is clear, unequivocal, and indisputable", President Vucic said for TV Pink.
Lavrov spoke the truth, but the question is - what can we change in our relationship?
Regarding the statement of the Russian Foreign Minister at the OSCE Ministerial Council that Serbia could not join the EU or open a new chapter unless it imposed sanctions on Russia or aligned itself with the EU's foreign policy, Vucic noted that Sergey Lavrov had spoken the truth, as he had done about many other things crucial for Serbia.
"Unfortunately, we Serbs don't like to hear what others say, neither from the West nor from the East... Essentially, Lavrov said everything truthfully, about how things have been working with Serbia since 2013 and how Serbia was deceived after the Brussels Agreement to achieve something that needs to be fulfilled. Then they would say - look, it's been 10 years, and it hasn't been fulfilled, so you will get much less than what you asked for... That's true, and it's all happening", Vucic said.
However, he pointed out that the question arose - what Serbia could do.
"What can we change not only to stay alive but also to preserve our children from wars, while progressing economically?" the President of Serbia asked.
The essence, he emphasizes, is that Serbia's hands are tied, and it holds up better than anyone would expect concerning preserving territorial integrity, sovereignty, and decision-making, not just in terms of respecting the UN Charter and safeguarding borders.
"The situation is difficult, and it will get even tougher, as confirmed by decisions suggesting that they believe the EU should include the entire Ohrid Agreement as a part of the negotiating chapter. I have said that this could be a part that we clearly said we could fulfill, but it cannot be a part of the negotiating chapter what we said could not be fulfilled", Vucic emphasized.
He believes that some in Europe seek to legalize Kosovo's membership in the UN as a part of the negotiating chapter.
"They can't do anything to me, but they can harm the country, and that won't change", Vucic emphasized.
According to him, the EU has assessed that Serbia is ready to open a new cluster.
"We have implemented good reforms and made progress in energy and the economy, and the European Commission acknowledges that, but they say membership will depend on political matters, namely talks with Pristina", Vucic emphasized.
