Vucic: Serbian Government Urgently to Form a Team to Fight to Prove the Truth about Kosovo in Southeast Europe
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic demanded today at an emergency session of the Serbian Government for an urgent formation of a team to fight to prove the truth about Kosovo when it comes to admission to the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, emphasizing that Serbia's chances are slim, but it is still necessary to fight.
"We have the decision of the PACE on April 16, and they will have the same majority as before. What is important and why I asked to address you: I am asking you to urgently form a team to deal with this and to fight. Our chances are small, minimal, but that does not mean that we should give up and cry," the Serbian president stated.
He requested that the Government form a team as soon as today and said he is ready to assist.
"You must change your approach; if you only say they are not a state, they will tell us, for them, the 27 they are a state and for all their dwarfs in the region they control. They will repeat in the region everything those 27 say, not only in our region but also in the eastern region; we don't have much chance, but don't be ashamed of that," the president said.
He added that the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM) is a fundamental condition for any entry of Kosovo into organizations concerned with human rights.
"They are not just close, but it doesn't even occur to them to form the CSM, and that must be the key argument. Many countries that have recognized Kosovo's independence will understand this. So if you prepare a team to deal with this today in the afternoon or tomorrow morning at the latest, prepare a non-paper to be sent to everyone. So that everyone is informed about Serbia's stance, go talk, I will talk to Macron and at least 10 other European leaders, I'm not saying we will succeed, but it's important to talk. Put me on the list to help you with that," the president said.
Vucic also said he does not expect anything good from today's talks in Brussels.
"We cannot expect anything good there. We have nothing to blame the people leading the dialogue, but it has boiled down to wrapping and putting a bow on Kurti's criminal acts to legalize his misdeeds, and we will not participate in that," Vucic emphasized.
Regular UN Security Council session on April 22
"We have a regular UN Security Council session on April 22, the report from UNMIK is very poor, it does not reflect the actual situation on the ground. It was done according to the usual methodology, but what we have received now is bad," the president said.
He emphasized that Serbia faces difficult tasks.
"We have difficult tasks ahead of us; we have talks in Brussels. We are prepared for that, but all of that in Brussels has turned into wrapping and putting a bow on Albin Kurti's illegal actions. We will not participate in any way," President Vucic stressed, adding that the position of our people will become increasingly difficult, but we will stand by our people and seek solutions to these increasingly difficult and constant problems," he said.
He said there may be a chance for Serbia to change the result in the UN General Assembly regarding the resolution on the Srebrenica genocide, and he might go there on the 21st and spend a few days talking to as many representatives of UN member states as possible.
"Our problem now is that I talked to President Maduro of Venezuela last night, but they don't have the right to vote, and now it's about how to restore his right to vote... they have a $40 million debt, we have four more such countries... But in any case, we have to fight. They can defeat us. Otherwise, this adoption of the resolution is unfair because a general resolution on genocide has been passed, and for some, it is unnecessary to go further. Imagine if there were no such act in the UN stating that Germany committed genocide; it was never passed. Then everything becomes clear," Vucic said.
He added that he expected the government to engage much more in foreign policy and that it was important to talk to countries that are open to dialogue, especially with African countries.
He said he would personally call the presidents of African countries and ask them to help in Serbia's fight.
He added that on April 7, he is going to Paris, and the next day he expects significant talks with French President Macron.
"I have had 19 conversations with him so far, and this one will be the most strategic. Sinisa Mali will accompany me - he said, and added: We have prepared for various topics, and one is the defense industry... Prepare documents for agriculture... Serbia will not sell any of its factories 51 percent, but that should not prevent recapitalization, and our defense industry should triple, and this year our industry will produce three times more grenades than France," he said.
"Prepare for the comprehensive national and political assembly that we will have on Easter and St. George Day with Republic of Srpska," Vucic said.
"Prepare for the comprehensive national and political assembly that we will have on Easter and St. George Day with Republic of Srpska," Vucic said.
"Finally, on May 11, there will be a final decision on Pristina for the Council of Europe, and I think we have a small chance, so I ask you to fight stronger than ever and I beg you to dedicate yourselves to it. It is crucial for us to do everything we can because there will be member states that have recognized Kosovo, but we can ensure that they do not support Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, and Hungary is not the only one, which is a great friend to us.
He said that until May 11 passes, there is no choice for the parties in the government because everyone must deal with this most important issue.
