Vucic: The Serbs think that Kosovo and Metohija are a part of the territory of Serbia and that will not change
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, as a guest on TV Prva's morning program, said that the last war before the Ukrainian war had broken out because of Kosovo and Metohija when Serbia had been attacked.
Vucic pointed out that there was nothing more valuable than peace.
"I hope that we will preserve the peace. We are doing our best. That is why I spoke with the Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg. There is nothing more valuable than peace. We are making a huge effort; we are silent about the many atrocities that come from Pristina because it is not a sign of our weakness, but responsibility," Vucic said.
Regarding the claim that Pristina is arming itself because of Serbian bases, Vucic states that Kurti is telling lies.
"Our bases have existed in the terrestrial security zone since the conflict with NATO. The conditions of warfare, the strength of technique, and technology have changed. He is looking for a sufficient reason for the nonsense he utters, wanting to drag Serbia into a conflict with NATO," the President of Serbia said.
Commenting on Kit Klarenberg's text, which states that British intelligence agencies want war in Kosovo, Vucic says that the Serbian services are analyzing it.
"I'm not like some, I need time to react to that," Vucic said.
He believes that London does not want a war in the Balkans.
"There is no doubt that Alicia Kearns is very well connected with the services of Great Britain," Vucic said, adding that he would soon speak with the Special Envoy of Great Britain, Sir Stuart Peach.
Speaking about Albin Kurti, who mentioned the President of Serbia 21 times in an interview, Vucic says that this shows that Kurti has "serious complexes".
He points out that Serbia invests a lot of money in the army.
"Our costs are in the billions of euros. Everyone has a reason to respect the Serbian army, and no one has a reason to be afraid," he said.
The President says that the Serbian army is 12 times larger than it was 10 years ago, stating that we must be a deterrent to all those who would attack Serbia.
"The decision of the Serbian Armed Forces is to be military-neutral - he said and pointed out that we had a good relationship with NATO, but that it was another matter of politics because the Quint manages NATO.
He says that it is no longer easy to attack Serbia from the air and that even in 1999 it was not easy to attack Serbia by land.
I spoke with Erdogan about the delivery of "Bayraktar" to Pristina
Vucic also said that he had spoken with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, about the delivery of "Bayraktar" to Pristina because, as he said, all of this was against public international law.
"It is against Resolution 1244, the people in NATO know it and the Americans in NATO know it, and Stoltenberg knows it... There must not be a so-called Kosovo army or anything similar. I spoke with Erdogan, and he said that he would soon come to Serbia and when he came, then we would continue to talk," the President said.
Turkey was a regional superpower, said Vucic, Serbia was small, but it adhered to International Public Law and would adhere to the Constitution of Serbia and international public legal norms.
"So, everyone has their own job, what would our people say," the President said.
Message from fans "When the army returns to Kosovo" is a message from a part of the public.
The President points out that the one who talks about it is trying to provoke war conflicts. Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused Vucic of attending that match and stated in a tweet that Red Star fans had led riots in 1990, which had been the spark that ignited the war.
"War conflicts are tried to be provoked by the one who talks about it, not someone else, and he just always ignores the fact that we normally respect, because we understand that they perceive Kosovo as an independent country, but they forget the Constitution of Serbia and forget how the citizens of Serbia perceive Kosovo - as a part of Serbia. It's so senseless that I have no words. I don't go to matches," Vucic said and added that in the last ten years, he had visited one or two, and that day he had been at the match between Red Star and Fiorentina because Italian Ambassador Luca Gori had been his guest.
He said that the message of the fans "When the army returns to Kosovo" was a message of a part of the public.
"The Serbs think that Kosovo and Metohija are a part of the territory of Serbia and that will not change regardless of what Kurti thinks about it. He wants to expel all Serbs and that is his ultimate goal," Vucic said.
Commenting on the statements of journalist Ranko Pivljanin about the pressures from the West, Vucic says that there is endless servility on the part of our public towards foreigners.
"They really think that there is something that someone promised them. For more than 11 years, they have been harshly criticizing me because I promised them something, so I didn't fulfill it. That’s how someone imagines a political life. They lived in a time when that was the case. In pubs, the government was formed by the Democratic Party and Socialistic Party of Serbia, tycoons, and a foreign ambassador," Vucic reminded.
He says that Serbia is not governed by the Americans, but by the citizens of Serbia through their representatives, and it will remain so as long as he is president.
"It is quite certain that the sanctions against the Director of the Security Intelligence Agency, Aleksandar Vulin, are a message for me as well. And? What should I do? I should kneel and beg for mercy? We have different dreams. My dream is an independent and sovereign Serbia. It is history that will judge me, not the Americans or Russians or Europeans," Vucic asked and revealed that the evening before the sanctions against Vulin, he had received a request from a foreign official to announce sanctions against Russia so that sanctions would not be imposed on Vulin.
