Vucic: The Serbs worldwide have the right to vote; Kurti will not allow them to vote
President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated today that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, just like last time, would not allow the Serbs to vote in the parliamentary elections scheduled for December 17.
As he emphasized, this was already a known scenario.
He highlighted that the right to vote was a fundamental human right, and the Serbs had it everywhere in the world except in Kosovo. According to him, this right for the Serbs in Kosovo is in question.
"As you know, the Serbs have this right in Australia, the USA, and across Europe, but it is still in question whether these people in the north, as well as those south of the river, will be able to exercise their right to vote or not. Why? Simply because they are Serbs, it didn't happen even last time", Vucic said at a press conference after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
He reminded that the denial of the right to vote in elections had been the beginning of the crisis.
"These people down there think they live in the same country as we do in accordance with UN Resolution 1244", Vucic emphasized.
The President of Serbia stated that on December 17, Kurti would deny the right of the Serbs to vote, and for that, he would receive a "warning" from the Quint.
"Kurti will ban the elections because he wants to help some people in the electoral process, and then we will have a clear condemnation from the Quint, and that will be the end of the story. The Serbs will not vote in Kosovo. It will happen as always", Vucic concluded.
In response to a journalist's question about whether NATO will create a safe environment and enable the Serbs in Kosovo to vote on December 17, Stoltenberg stated that NATO's mission in Kosovo had a mandate to provide a secure environment for all communities without discrimination. However, he emphasized that NATO did not have the authority to enforce laws.
