Ymeri: The Berishaj affair is bigger than it was thought, the support given to him by Osmani and Kurti is problematic
Analyst Visar Ymeri is surprised by the protection that Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani provide to Kosovo's ambassador to Croatia, Martin Berishaj, reports Gazeta Express.
Ymeri pointed out that Kosovo should not have an ambassador who was suspected of corruption affairs and, according to him, this was unprecedented.
"Whether there is a connection between Prime Minister Kurti and Ambassador Berishaj in the affair remains to be seen. The protection that the Government and the presidency provide to Berishaj, despite the facts, is extremely problematic and absolutely unacceptable. We cannot have an ambassador who is suspected of such affairs, I am not saying that he is guilty, the court will ultimately decide, but only suspicion makes him unfit to be the representative ambassador of Kosovo. It turned out that Berishaj, even when he became ambassador, was involved in withdrawing money from that company and was also involved in energy transactions", said Ymeri.
Ymeri said that in the case of Berishaj, the prosecution was handling the investigation, as in Montenegro and Slovenia, and stated that the affair was much bigger than originally thought.
"Since three countries are dealing with the case, I believe that the truth will eventually come out, but it seems that the affair is much bigger than we thought," Ymeri said.
Ymeri also stated that Self-Determination published videos whenever it was in a difficult situation.
According to him, Self-Determination is trying to hide the scandal with videos, adding that the Government should not behave like that.
"Self-determination has made an extremely harmful practice, to use insinuations, often false allusions, to attack the opposition, and it usually does this when it is in a difficult situation for some reason," Ymeri said.
