Political analyst Petar Arsovski stated that the local elections in North Macedonia did not bring major surprises and that, judging by the preliminary results, the country can expect a more stable and peaceful political period. He believes the results confirmed existing political trends and that the differences among parties remained within expected margins, which could contribute to easing tensions on the political scene.

“The results have largely confirmed the existing political tendencies. There were some small marginal shifts, for example, the Left performed well in Skopje, DUI performed relatively poorly, while VLEN achieved good results across the country. But all of this falls within the statistical variations shown in the polls. There were no major surprises, and that could lead the country into a calmer political period,” Arsovski emphasized.

Based on the election results, Arsovski expects that in the coming period the country will focus on fulfilling the promises made during the campaign.

“In any case, there will be no pressure for potential early parliamentary elections to legitimize or delegitimize the Albanian partner in the government. Therefore, I would say that a calmer period lies ahead, during which the country should focus on delivering on the promises made during the elections,” Arsovski concluded.
