Some citizens of Pristina fulfilled some of their wishes this year, while others will wait for the coming year and better times to see them realized. Wishes also vary depending on generation.

While young people want to travel, complete their studies, and find jobs in their profession, the wishes of older citizens are more modest – health and higher pensions.

Two younger residents of Pristina said they fulfilled their wish to travel a lot this year and want to continue doing so next year as well.

“I traveled a lot. I visited New York. I want to be healthy in the coming year and also to travel a lot with my friends,” one Pristina resident told us.

“It is the same for me. I also wish health for my family and friends,” her friend added.

For one older citizen of Pristina, the only wish is to stay alive and healthy.

“Just to live a few more days, and that is enough for me. That’s my wish,” he said.

One of his fellow citizens said she did not fulfill all her wishes this year but hopes for better times in the coming year.

“Our political situation wasn’t really good, there were many obstacles, but it still seems that things will get better. On a personal level, I have nothing to expect, we are pensioners, we receive charity, that’s not a pension, but thank God, we have children who help us,” she told the Kosovo Online team on the promenade in Pristina.

For Ejup Saliu, the greatest wish this year was for Kosovo’s caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti to win the elections.

“My biggest wish this year has been fulfilled, Albin Kurti won the elections, and for next year I would like my wish to be fulfilled that the current president, Vjosa Osmani, wins another presidential term,” he said.

On the promenade in Pristina, we also encountered a tourist from Italy who will spend the New Year holidays in Kosovo.

“I completed my university studies this year. Next year I want to find a job related to my studies in economics, in Italy,” Nicolo said.

Another tourist from France pointed out that this year he fulfilled wishes related to his profession and expects career advancement in the coming year.
