A ceremonial presentation of student record books for incoming freshmen was held today at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in North Mitrovica. On this occasion, the dean of the faculty, Zoran Golubovic, wished the students good health and happiness, and encouraged them to work diligently, reminding them that he and the professors are there to help them acquire new knowledge and advance in their studies.

“The faculty is organized into several departments. Above all, pay attention to attending classes regularly. Professors will ask you about what they lecture, and if you master that, believe me, it will be enough even for the highest grade on the exam,” Golubovic said.

This year, more than 150 new freshmen enrolled at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, while around 50 students enrolled in master’s studies.

Nikola Dedic, president of the student parliament at the faculty, introduced the freshmen to the institution and their upcoming responsibilities. He also emphasized that it is a great privilege to be a student at the University of Pristina with temporary headquarters in Kosovska Mitrovica.

“It is a great honor that you chose our faculty, because by doing so you became part of a big family, but also of the wider academic community developing here. Mitrovica is truly a student city for young people, a city with a long tradition. From the very beginning, you must have strong character and clear goals. The start of studies is a special day in the life of every young person; keep in mind that university is not only about passing exams but also about shaping your personality, broadening your horizons, and creating memories that last a lifetime. Through many activities organized by the student parliament, students are further inspired, given special value, connected with one another, and taught the importance of community,” Dedic said, while also explaining the benefits available to students in the dormitory, cafeteria, gym, clubs, and other student facilities.

Among the freshmen are many who come from other parts of Kosovo and decided to continue their education in North Mitrovica. As they note, their expectations are high, but for now their priority is adjusting to the new environment and new system of learning.

“I’m very glad to be a student in such a large family, everything seems very interesting. I hope to spend a lot of time in this amphitheater, to build wonderful memories, and to truly learn something,” said Stefan Tomic, who enrolled in the Mining Department.

Anrijana Vucinic from Zupce, near Zubin Potok, hopes for successful studies.

“I enrolled in Technological Engineering, and I expect only the best from this faculty. I believe I will succeed in graduating,” Vucinic said.
