The Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selakovic, led the state ceremony of honoring and laying wreaths on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the breakthrough of the Thessaloniki Front at Kajmakchalan.

Selakovic said that today people gathered in Kjmakcalan from all areas where Serbs lived. He pointed out that this was the least that can be done and reminded that the Serbian army passed that way exactly 107 years ago, breaking through the front on Kajmakchalan, the highest peak of the Nidze mountain. He emphasized that after the great war, the Serbian people called Kajmakchalan the "Gate of Freedom" and the "Gate of the Fatherland".

"We gathered to pay our respects to the shadows of our heroes. 4,643 great people died here, we don't know all their names, but they are great people. They climbed this peak under the struggle and from here they managed to reach Bitola, which was the de facto capital of Serbia for the next two years, and our supreme command was located in the village of Bac, Selakovic reminded.

The minister pointed out that Serbia, together with the Republic of Srpska, attaches great importance to the cultivation of the culture of remembrance and expressed his belief that in the future they will jointly erect war memorials that have been destroyed.

"We will do it here in North Macedonia, in cooperation with the Government of North Macedonia, we will do it in every other region where a Serbian soldier who did not go anywhere as a conqueror, went either because he had to or went to defend his native land. Our coming here, our prayer for their souls, our singing of our national anthem in this place shows that they really won," said the minister.

The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Nenad Stevandic, pointed out the importance of the Kajmakchalan and pointed out that this proved that their sacrifice lasted for centuries.
