Seven years of the Kosovo Online portal – responsibly, professionally, and without compromise

Seven years ago, on August 1, 2019, the multimedia news portal Kosovo Online published its first news report. Since then, always committed to professional and responsible reporting on Kosovo, we have become an indispensable source of news and, we believe, have further enriched the media landscape.

Launched with the goal of providing the public with comprehensive information about Kosovo and from Kosovo in one place, the portal has demonstrated that reporting from such a sensitive area can and must be accurate, impartial and timely.

While covering a wide range of topics, from politics, economy, culture, and sports, we have never lost sight of what matters most: the lives of ordinary people, Serbs, Albanians, and everyone else living in Kosovo.

Kosovo Online publishes news in Serbian, Albanian, and English, accompanied by a large number of videos and photographs, in order to present daily developments in and concerning Kosovo to the widest possible audience as accurately as possible.

Since its launch, the portal has recorded 50,066,747 visits, with more than ten million of them in the past year alone. A total of 177,719 news articles have been published, along with 23,408 multimedia posts.

The Kosovo Online YouTube channel has published 27,876 videos and recorded a total of 19,091,978 views. In addition, the Kosovo Online Live YouTube channel has published 1,507 videos and has accumulated 1,882,689 views. The Kosovo Online Uzivo YouTube channel has also published 4,483 videos, attracting 1,163,780 views.

Our Vesti Lajmet YouTube channel has published 1,375 videos and recorded a total of 706,453 views.

No major event over the past year escaped the cameras of Kosovo Online. Our journalists and camera operators recorded hours upon hours of court proceedings, debates, celebrations, voting, memorial services, incidents, testimonies, analyses and much more.

We were there not only on the spot, but also the day after, when emotions had settled and it was time for analysis and interpretation. The cameras remain on, and our journalists remain ready for new challenges, new stories and the events we will continue to follow together. Every news story has its moment, and every story has its continuation.

According to Editor-in-Chief Petar Rosic, Kosovo Online was launched seven years ago with a simple but demanding idea: to become a place where readers could find reliable, timely and comprehensive information about Kosovo.

“Over the years, we have covered major political developments, stories about everyday life and the challenges faced by citizens, as well as topics related to culture, the economy, education, sports and more, while striving to be where events unfold, in the field and among the people,” Rosic said.

He pointed out that Kosovo Online is now a media outlet followed by readers of different nationalities from across the region and around the world.

“By publishing content in Serbian, English, and Albanian, we strive to make our news accessible to as wide an audience as possible, believing that accurate and verified information is the best foundation for mutual understanding. However, our seventh anniversary is not only an opportunity to reflect on what we have accomplished, but also an incentive to continue our mission in our eighth year with even greater dedication. Therefore, I would like to thank all our readers, interviewees and associates for the trust they have placed in us. That trust is the greatest confirmation that it was worth building a media outlet that remains open to new ideas and challenges while staying true to its fundamental principle – reporting on Kosovo professionally, responsibly, and without compromise,” Rosic concluded.
