Drecun: Clark will wontinue to mislead in The Hague, he will testify in coordination with Thaçi’s defense

The Chair of the Serbian Parliament’s Committee on Security and Internal Affairs, Milovan Drecun, stated that NATO Commander during the bombing of the FR Yugoslavia, Wesley Clark, will continue to mislead the court and the public while testifying in The Hague as a defense witness for former KLA leader Hashim Thaçi, and that he will testify in coordination with the defense lawyers, RTS reports.

“I believe he will only continue to mislead the court and the public and will testify entirely in agreement with Thaçi’s defense, in whatever way suits them, because if Clark were sincere, he would have to acknowledge that the KLA was a terrorist organization, as he could clearly see on the ground,” Drecun said.

He emphasized that there was intelligence cooperation between NATO and the KLA and that such links existed both in 1998 and 1999.

“They knew very well whom they were dealing with and were fully aware that it was a well-structured, hierarchical organization,” Drecun added, as reported by RTS.

Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, Wesley Clark, is the last defense witness from the former U.S. administration to testify on behalf of Thaçi’s defense team, following James Rubin, Paul Williams, and Christopher Hill. His testimony begins on Monday.

Despite claims that the West intends to facilitate Thaçi’s return to Pristina, some analysts believe this is more a matter of personal connections with the former Pristina leader.

“I do not see any intention on the part of the Trump administration to influence the release of Hashim Thaçi through such means. Yes, there were some discussions about it. Richard Grenell himself spoke positively about Thaçi’s readiness to reach certain agreements with Belgrade in the dialogue, but I would not go so far as to say that this is the main motive,” Drecun said.

According to him, they were simply given permission to testify, and how they will testify and what they will do is not something he believes the Trump administration can influence.
