The Hague: Detention of Krasnqi, Selimi, and Mustafa extended
Former KLA leaders Jakup Krasniqi and Redzep Selimi, who are in the custody of the Hague-based Kosovo Specialist Chambers, have had their detention extended, decided the judge in the previous proceedings, Nicolas Guillou, the Albanian Post reports.
A similar decision against Salih Mustafa was made by the court headed by judge Mappie Veldt-Foglia.
The decision to continue detention was made because, according to the court's assessment, there was a moderate risk that they would escape, or commit further crimes against those who are considered opponents of the KLA, including witnesses, who had offered or could offer evidence in this case.
For Mustafa, the judicial panel found that there was still a risk that the accused would interfere with the course of proceedings of the Specialist Judicial Panels by interfering with the testimony of victims and witnesses.
In addition, the Specialist Prosecutor's Office submitted a provisional list of its first 40 witnesses in the case against Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Redzep Selimi.
