Kosovo threatens European stability in the energy sector again, warned of a fine of five million euros and exclusion from the system
The Transmission and Market System Operator (KOSTT) risks being excluded from the Continental Europe Synchronous Area (CESA) due to the ongoing imbalance that also threatens the energy system of Continental Europe. KOSTT was warned for the last time by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) that if that instability continued and the problems were not resolved within 30 days, Kosovo would be disconnected from this area and even fined more than five million euros, Reporteri reported.
The newspaper "Infokus" obtained a letter by which the "European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E)" addressed the executive director of "KOSTT" Evetar Zeqiri, and warned him that due to this constant instability and non-compliance with the key points of the agreement, KOSTT risks being excluded from this sector.
"This seems to be the last warning letter, which also represents a certain time limit of 30 days to improve the situation, or KOSTT will be excluded from the agreement. The letter points out that after several meetings and letters addressed to KOSTT in Kosovo, this situation became unbearable. It is also pointed out that Ukraine, which is at war, maintains the balance of the power system better than Kosovo," the letter sent to KOSTT states.
KOSTT is accused of not complying with the agreement's measures, and this omission, as well as the deliberate use of machinery, is considered a deliberate violation of the "Lockout Agreement", which was first concluded in 2015, and extended until 2020, i.e., 2022.
