Prices in Kosovo on the rise, the life of citizens is getting more and more difficult
The overall harmonized index of consumer prices in January this year was higher by 1.8 percent on average compared to December last year, and according to the data of the Kosovo Agency for Statistics, monthly inflation in January 2024 amounted to 0.3 percent, as Ekonomia online reports.
According to the Agency's data, the price of firewood is higher by 13.6 percent, fish by 9.7 percent, and vegetables by 9.3 percent.
Electricity, gas and other fuels rose in price by 7.5 percent, and household goods - by 7.2 percent.
When it comes to products: sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets went up in price by seven percent, food products by 6.5 percent, and soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices by 6.1 percent.
Books and stationery are more expensive by 5.3 percent, as are prices for glassware, cutlery and kitchen tools.
Clothing (3.8 percent), hotel services (2.9 percent), coffee, tea and cocoa (2.9 percent), tobacco (2.7 percent), bread and cereals (2 percent) and meat (1.4 percent).
According to the research, oils became cheaper by 8.5 percent, milk and cheese - 3.9 percent, and vehicles - 2.1 percent.
The Agency's data show that the total harmonized index of consumer prices in January of this year was on average 0.3 percent higher than in December 2023.
