Another trial for Vukotic in Pristina; Vlajic: They are trying him every two years for a new event, that is unprecedented
Another trial of Zoran Vukotic related to an alleged war crime committed in the municipality of Vucitrn is currently underway in the Basic Court in Pristina, his lawyer Nebojsa Vlajic confirmed for Kosovo Online.
"Instead of sentencing him at once, they are trying him every two years for a new event. This is unprecedented in history. He is being tried for an alleged war crime committed in the territory of Vucitrn municipality," Vlajic said.
At today's hearing, Vukotic is represented by lawyer Ljubomir Pantovic.
As a reminder, on November 7, the Supreme Court of Kosovo confirmed the verdict against Zoran Vukotic, who has already been sentenced to 13 years in prison for war crimes against the civilian population.
Vlajic said at that time that he would file a request for legal protection because the sentence had exceeded the legal maximum penalty.
"In another case, he was also sentenced to six and a half years for war crimes, and when these two sentences are added up, it is more than 15 years, which cannot be imposed," Vlajic said after the Supreme Court's verdict.
In 2018, Vukotic was already found guilty and sentenced to six and a half years in prison for war crimes against the civilian population, namely for the alleged mistreatment of Albanian civilians detained in the prison in Smrekovnica from May 3, 1999, to early June 1999.
