Attorney Nikolic: Jevtic placed in 30-day custody
The Basic Court in Pristina has ordered 30-day detention for Bojan Jevtic, a Kosovo police officer from Berivojce near Kosovska Kamenica, who is under investigation by the Special Prosecutor’s Office on charges of espionage, his attorney Milos Nikolic confirmed.
“Jevtic has been placed in 30-day custody,” Nikolic briefly stated.
Earlier today, following the detention hearing, Nikolic said that Jevtic is under investigation for the criminal offense of espionage and that the defense had offered bail in exchange for house arrest.
“Bojan Jevtic is a member of the Kosovo Police and has been serving since 2002. He is under investigation for the criminal offense of espionage. Importantly, we presented arguments in his favor today, including the fact that he will remain available to the authorities and respond to court summonses. For that reason, we proposed a bail measure in the amount of €15,000,” Nikolic said.
Jevtic was arrested yesterday at the Bela Zemlja crossing point.
Kosovo’s acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, announced yesterday that Jevtic was arrested on suspicion of espionage on behalf of Serbian security structures.
“This is the sixth person arrested in connection with espionage cases in Kosovo. One of the suspects has already confessed, confirming the serious and professional work of Kosovo’s institutions, as well as Serbia’s involvement in destabilization attempts against the Republic of Kosovo,” Sveçla wrote on Facebook.
