Last night, members of the ROSU Special Police Unit beat two young Serbs in the village of Josanica near Leposavic, and one of the injured young men, Lazar Djokovic, told Kosovo Online that the torture had lasted several minutes and that the policemen had kicked and hit them while they had been lying on the ground.

After receiving medical help today, the young men were released for home treatment.

"A friend from the village, Djordje Micovic, came to my store and invited me to look for his mobile phone that he had dropped earlier. We left around 7:00 p.m., I don't know the exact time. After a kilometer and a half on the bend of the road itself, we saw vehicles behind us, they intercepted us, and a jeep in front of us braked. A special officer ran out with an automatic rifle, repeated the rifle, and ordered us to get out of the car. They pulled us out of the car and immediately threw us on the ground when they started hitting and kicking us," Djokovic says for Kosovo Online.

Lazar adds that they were only released after they showed their personal documents and said that they lived there in the village.

"When they started beating us, they searched the car and asked where we were from and what we were doing while we explained that we were from that village and showed our identity card that we lived in Josanica, after which they let us go. There were seven or eight members of the police, who kept their guns pointed at us while we were lying on the ground. My head and eye hurt the most. I couldn't even see well until this morning, and I hurt my knees when they dragged me and threw me on the ground. After everything that happened, I'm scared, and who wouldn't be afraid," Djokovic said

The father of the injured Lazar, Miloica Djokovic says that the attack on his son and their neighbor is the last straw.

"Now, this is the last straw. Last night I accompanied my son and a neighbor to the village to look for a phone. They should have asked him first who he is, and they should have asked for his documents, and not to pull out the children and kick them like soccer balls. I don't know what is being done and where is it going in the 21st century. We survived and lived here, but there is no life here," the father of the injured young man said.

Another injured young man, Djordje Micovic, says that the beating by ROSU special officers lasted several minutes and that he and his friend were called criminals and smugglers the whole time.

"Somewhere around 7:30 p.m., a jeep overtook us and blocked our way. I didn't even get to stop the vehicle, they came out, they repeated their guns, and they started banging and shouting to get out. I didn't know what hit me. They dragged me outside and immediately threw me on the ground. Kicking, and punching in the head followed. They started kicking me in the chest and ribs. During that period, I heard the moans of my friend, I think he was hit in the head with a boot. It lasted five to seven minutes. I couldn't move," says a visibly shaken Micovic, among other things.

Father Dragos Micovic says that this is not the first time that his son has been attacked.

"At first he was afraid to tell me what happened, but he did it the next day. This is the second time now. I would understand that he said something bad and I would understand that he had goods in his car that he was smuggling, but that's how they behave. I think this is the last straw, I told the Austrian from EULEX who came to us this morning. He told me that he would try everything - he will try but nothing will work. A thief does not steal from another thief," the father of the injured Djordje added.
